Say you invest $100 in the call that expires in 30 minutes. The S&P 500 price at expiration determines whether you make or lose money. The price at expiration may be the last quoted price, or the (bid+ask)/2. Each binary options broker outlines their own expiration price rules. In this case, assume the last quote on the S&P 500 before expiration was 1,802. Therefore, you make a $70 profit (or 70% of $100) and maintain your original $100 investment. If the price finished below 1,800, you would lose your original $100 investment. If the price expires exactly on the strike price, it is common for the trader to receive her/his money back with no profit or loss, although brokers may have different rules. The profit and/or original investment is automatically added to the trader's account when the position is closed.
Thanks for your useful tips on how to select a good broker to do business with. They are sure to benefit all potential traders out there. You can get reliable information on brokers in the binary options and other industries here. BrokerCheck gives you an overview of a broker’s licensing info, employment history, and regulatory actions as well as complaints against them. The best part is it is a free tool. The website is operated by FINRA which is authorized by the US Congress to protect the interests and money of investors. The site instantly tells you whether a broker is registered to provide trading services to investors. In short, it can help you select honest and transparent brokers, and avoid fraudulent fly-by-night operators whose plan is to swindle traders’ money.
Know when to get out of a position. An intuitive trader acts promptly when he feels that his binary contract is going to end out-of-the-money at expiration. Example: You have a $75.00 silver contract that you feel is not going to expire in-the-money. Instead of holding it until the expiration date, selling it at $30.00 and neutralizing your open interest will help you manage the loss (by losing $45 instead of $75 once it was confirmed to expire out-of-the-money).
In February 2017 the Times of Israel reported that the FBI was conducting an active international investigation of binary option fraud, emphasizing its international nature, saying that the agency was "not limited to the USA". Victims from around the world were asked to contact an FBI field office or the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. The investigation is not limited to the binary options brokers, but is comprehensive and could include companies that provide services that allow the industry to operate. Credit card issuers will be informed of the fraudulent nature of much of the industry, which could possibly allow victims to receive a chargeback, or refund, of fraudulently obtained money.[6]
The answer to both questions: the broker. Trading binary options is gambling. There's a saying in the gambling industry: "the house always wins." In binary options trading "the house" is the broker. Any series of trades is structured so that the broker makes money over time. That means that in the aggregate, traders lose money over time. (The only money in this process is the money traders themselves contribute, just as the only money in gambling casinos is the money that gamblers in the aggregate bring to the casinos.)

No matter which binary options you trade--Nadex options or traditional binary options--"position size" is important. Your position size is how much you risk on a single trade. How much you risk shouldn't be random, nor based on how convinced you are a specific trade will work out in your favor. View position size as a formula, and use it for every trade.
Although this is only one factor when choosing a broker it is always one of the top trading tricks to see what bonuses are on offer. If you take advantage of a 100% matching bonus for example you can allocate the bonus money differently to how you would trade with your own money. Some traders use the bonus money to try out different ways of trading or for using on different assets. The risk with this money is smaller because it is bonus money so it makes sense to use this for self improvement.
Another very important piece of advice would be to keep apprised of trading news. Keeping ears and eyes open to catch breaking news about the market condition can get the binary options trader a clear view of current situations, making it easier for him to trade during market crashes. By understanding the root cause for market changes, the new trader can help corner the market when it rallies or crashes.

Nadex traders are able to trade an impressive range of assets that include Currencies such as EURUSD and GBPUSD, Stock Indices such as Wall Street 30 and FTSE 100 as well as Commodities such as Gold and Crude Oil. Nadex also recently added Bitcoin to its tradable assets while it remains one of the few brokerage firms to allow traders bet on Events such as Non-farm payrolls and Fed Funds Rate.

Binary options are often considered a form of gambling rather than investment because of their negative cumulative payout (the brokers have an edge over the investor) and because they are advertised as requiring little or no knowledge of the markets. Gordon Pape, writing in Forbes.com in 2010, called binary options websites "gambling sites, pure and simple", and said "this sort of thing can quickly become addictive... no one, no matter how knowledgeable, can consistently predict what a stock or commodity will do within a short time frame".[23]
