As already stated ask for access to the brokers demo system and check that it is a fully interactive system and not just a series of slides and graphics. Most brokers will insist that you make a deposit before allowing access to their demo systems but if you are serious about trading you will be making a deposit when you get started so this should not be an issue for you. Give yourself time to get to know the system fully and to practice trading and using your strategy.
When it comes to binary options and Forex trading, traders in Europe are some of the most fortunate traders across the globe. A binary option is a fast and extremely simple financial instrument which allows investors to speculate on whether the price of an asset will go up or down in the future, for example the stock price of Google, the price of Bitcoin, the USD/GBP exchange rate, or the price of gold. The time span can be as little as 60 seconds, making it possible to trade hundreds of times per day across any global market.

In March 2013 the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) announced that binary options regulation would be transferred away from Malta's Lottery and Gaming Authority. On 18 June 2013 MFSA confirmed that in their view binary options fell under the scope of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), which made Malta the second EU jurisdiction to regulate binary options as a financial instrument. This required providers to obtain a category 3 Investment Services license and conform to MiFID's minimum capital requirements; firms could previously operate from the jurisdiction with a valid Lottery and Gaming Authority license.
To see the most recent list of exchanges that are designated as contract markets, check the CFTC website. There currently are only three designated contract markets offering binary options in the U.S.: Cantor Exchange LP; Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Inc.; and the North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc. All other entities offering binary options that are commodity options transactions are doing so illegally.
Traders have better control of trades in binaries. For example, if a trader wants to buy a contract, he knows in advance, what he stands to gain and what he will lose if the trade is out-of-the-money. This is not the case with other markets. For example, when a trader sets a pending order in the forex market to trade a high-impact news event, there is no assurance that his trade will be filled at the entry price or that a losing trade will be closed out at the exit stop loss.

As you may be aware, we are of the opinion that large bonus create more issues than actual benefits. The main reason is that you are unable to receive the bonus until you reach the specified turnover amount. This of course means the higher the bonus the more the trading volume necessary to be able to make a withdrawal. A plus side to this is that traders are not required to accept the bonus.
"I'm looking for a way to definitively convince him to stop and that his edge isn't as great as it seems. I tried talking to him multiple times about the subject but I'm not as knowledgeable about the field and ultimately that becomes my shortcoming when trying to convince him why he shouldn't continue to be involved with this. Any help would certainly be appreciated."
Binary option is popular to all types of traders – from low-skilled and amateur traders to veterans – because of its simple yes-or-no and all-or-nothing premise with high payouts. However, just like any investment, having high rewards also entails high risks. Hence, it is critical for you to be knowledgeable about this financial instrument and to fully understand how it works.
I don't get involved in fancy trading techniques, I just buy naked calls and puts, I watch them very closely and always have stop losses. Its better to buy options that have a lot of volume because I've found thinly traded options have a huge spread between the bid and ask price, meaning you buy the contract at .80 ($80) but can only sell it at .60 ($60). Also you almost never need to hold an option to expiration, you either trade it because it went down and hit your stop loss or you sell because you made 150% 200% 300% whatever. Stop losses are good because the prices can move very quickly down and if your not watching you can lose a lot. At some point if you made a lot on a trade you may think that you made your money and there is better opportunities now for your investment capital so its time to sell. Usually keep some puts and calls because you can hedge if the market goes up or down. I find fancy trading strategies cost more limit profit and raise the break even point.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) warned Australian investors on 13 February 2015 against Opteck, an unlicensed binary option provider.
